A footvalve is a primary closure valve that is fitted to the drain point of the vessel. It is used to load and discharge cargo in combination with a secondary valve.
Standard sizes are DN80 (3”) and DN100 (4”). Both are available in 30°, 45°,90° and 180° options. We can offer footvalves with manual, pneumatic or hydraulic actuation and we have a range of lined and coated valves for corrosive cargoes.
Footvalves are available as a single unit and we have a range of composite discharge valves which combine a primary and secondary valve. You can choose between 2 main styles of footvalve: Cleanflow or Highlift. Fort Vale footvalves come with an alloy 625 valve seat as standard to minimise the risk of crevice corrosion and reduce associated M&R costs.
The Cleanflow footvalve does not protrude into the tank. When the valve is open, the poppet does not obstruct the discharge orifice, so the cargo discharges faster.
The Highlift footvalve has a traditional internal cage and spring-loaded poppet.
